How to care for art collections such as paintings

Painting is a self-expression made by the painter. Then if it’s been too long, sometimes we are a little confused in caring for the painting. If we lose the painting like losing a moment, then I give tips on how to care for the painting:

Painting there are various kinds of techniques to make it to know how to paint it. The first thing you do is identify what paint your painting is made of? If you don’t have a painting yet, it is advisable to ask the painter what paint to use, and the following are the categories.

Oil paint

How to care for paintings made of oil paints is not too difficult. You can use oil painting. You can use a washcloth or clean brush to help you apply the oil painting. Wipe the cloth that has been given the oil painting on your painting and let it sit for a while. If you don’t have oil painting you can use plain bread instead. Conversely, if your painting is not too dirty. Do not use water to clean this type of painting, as this can create mold. You can also use the traditional way to prevent moths or ticks of your painting by using pepper powder sprinkled on the back of the canvas, after which you can pat it behind the canvas.

Acrylic Paint

This type of painting does not need to use oil painting, because acrylic paint is water-based. You can use a clean brush and rag dry. If there is a lot of dirt on the painting, you can use a little water, after that you can coat your painting so that the paint can last longer with a special transparent material for acrylic paint.

Watercolor

You can use a dry cloth to clean it. If your painting is stained with mold, you can use bleach to clean it. Cleaning using bleach also has a technique. You have to use a rag to apply, put the paper under your painting, then you can press it from behind after it airs out. If your painting affected by mold is already brittle, it’s a good idea to leave it to an expert.

Crayons or pencils

How to care for it is much easier, you only need to clean it with a dry cloth by wiping it with the cloth and then drying it in the sun and then aerating it for a while.

Fur

How to treat feather painting is almost the same as treating painting from oil paint. Most importantly, you have to coat the fur with a coating material for oil painting to make it easier to care for and clean it.

Overcome moldy painting

And if you want to clean a moldy painting, it may take extra care because there is already dirt accumulating which results in the growth of mold in the painting area. Saving paintings must be extra careful in maintenance. Especially expensive paintings. Before dealing with moldy painting, it’s good to prevent it first.

Each painting medium, of course, comes from a different mixture. There are even some pigment colors that tend to cause mold more often than other colors.

And here are some things to note about moldy paintings:

• Natural colors such as Raw Umber, Burnt Umber and Vandyke Brown in oil paints often appear mildew than other colors. At least I concluded this after several painters complained about the same thing.

• Do not apply permanent Varnish to a painting unless it is completely dry. Especially oil painting. Because the use of varnish when it is not completely dry can cause mold on the canvas (either behind it or on top of the color). Wait at least 3 – 6 months (depending on the thickness of the paint used).

• Store the painting on a wall or a cool, dry area, not damp. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight.

• In watercolor paintings, always use paper that is labeled acid free. This serves to avoid paper changes due to the acidity of the paper and air.

If you are still in doubt about cleaning your art collection and are afraid of damaging it, especially if you don’t know how to clean beforehand, it would be nice if you leave it to the experts by using art services, here you don’t need to worry if your painting will be damaged because it will be cleaned. in accordance with good security standards
