- The general public will be given access to the collection on October 30, 2021.
- A percentage of the sales will be going to Picture My Life Program.
Shabangrs is launching a new NFT (non-fungible token) project made up of a collection of 10,000 photography-inspired artwork that will be issued in one-hour pre-sales set for October 20th at 7 PM EST and October 21st at 10 AM EST. The general public will be granted access on October 30th at 9 AM EST.
Founded by world-famous photographer and author Peter Hurley, Shabangrs aims to honor photographers and creatives all over the world, not to mention giving back to society with a percentage of the sales going to charity. The charity donation will be directed towards the Picture My Life Program by the United Nations Association, which teaches refugee children how to take professional photography.
By holding a Shabangrs NFT, photographers get more than ownership of a cool-looking NFT piece of art. These NFTs also give their holders citizenship to a metaverse-based virtual city called Shabangrsville.
The metaverse is a term that describes the entirety of all VR worlds and experiences. It is a collective virtual shared space that is created by everyone and owned by everyone. If you ever played The Sims, SecondLife, or World of Warcraft then you have been part of a metaverse in some way. In these games, players can connect virtually in a futuristic experience that enables a full realization of what Virtual Reality is all about.
In like manner, Shabangrs Shanbangrsville will grant citizenship through the Shabangrs NFTs. What’s more, each NFT will come with perks in the form of raffle tickets for winning high-end photography equipment, among other interesting giveaways such as a headshot session with Hurley. Therefore, the more Shabangrs NFTs you own, the higher your chances of winning. Going forward, Shabangrsville is also set to become a flourishing community of photographers and creators.
As the world’s first photography-inspired NFT project, Shabangrs NFT launch is laying the foundation for a merger between the photography industry and blockchain technology.
NFTs continue to bring about tons of attention to the world of blockchain and cryptocurrencies. Tales of digital artists achieving astronomical sales of their NFT art pieces have littered the headlines as more companies, public figures and regular joes join the fray. The tokenization of real-world objects is an inevitable part of the evolution of the internet into an eventual metaverse.
The ability to prove that your possession of a digital piece of art or a virtual wearable or even a virtual piece of land is a foundational concept towards enabling a thriving virtual economy of the future.
Projects such as Shabangrs are pioneering platforms of the future where communities galvanized around different passions can enable a fully-fledged virtual economy to grow.
