CHARLEVOIX — The Charlevoix Circle of Arts has recently announced its 2022 exhibit schedule with its first opening near the end of the month to kick off the organization’s year.
The upcoming schedule features seven different exhibits through the year bringing back some annual favorites — the organization’s Spotlight on Innovation and its Summer Salon amongst others — as well as a mix of new exhibits it is excited to share and host.
“For this whole year we also kind of have this central theme with fine craft and functional art,” said Circle of Arts exhibit coordinator Laura Kelly.
“Our first exhibit of the year is right around the corner and follows that theme with a sort of tagline of ‘where contemporary fine arts meets functionality,'” she said.
The Circle of Art’s first exhibit — titled “Wood + Metal” — opens in the organization’s gallery space on Friday, Jan. 28 with an opening reception from 5-7 p.m. where patrons can mingle, meet with exhibiting artists and enjoy some refreshments.
The exhibit features the work from four mostly local artists including Richard Small, Paul Rytlewski, Laura Earle, Dawson Moore and their works.
“We really thought this time of year would be a good time to focus on an exhibit like this,” said Kelly. “There will be furniture, handmade tools, interactive sculptures and more really providing a nice variety.”
The Circle of Arts “Wood + Metal” exhibit will remain up through Saturday, Feb. 26 before making room for the next exhibit.
The rest of the organization’s yearly exhibit schedule is listed below:
-
Spotlight on Innovation — Friday, March 11 through Saturday, April 9
-
Interlacements — Friday, April 22 through Saturday, May 21
-
Charlevoix Photography Club’s 13th annual Juried Exhibition — Friday, June 3 through Saturday, June 18
-
Summer Salon — Friday, July 1 through Saturday, Sept. 3
-
Charlevoix at Night —Friday, Sept. 16 through Saturday, Oct. 29
-

“I’m personally really excited for the Interlacements exhibit as I really love the fiber arts and seeing what artists can do,” said Kelly.
“However, the whole year is looking to be great and we are excited for people to come in and see what we have to offer and what amazing talent is among us,” she said.
