The Starkville Area Arts Council and Columbus Arts Council are opening their latest exhibits this week.
Columbus Arts Council will host exhibits featuring the paintings of Sabrina Howard and Anstacia Doughty. An opening reception is scheduled from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday at the Rosenzweig Art Center, 501 Main St.
Howard, of Jackson, calls herself an artist of all trades.
Doughty, a Columbus native, is a fine arts teacher at the Columbus Municipal School District.
Howard’s work will be featured in the main gallery. Doughty’s will be in Artist Alley.
SAAC’s next Art in Public Places (AiPP) Exhibit, the 2021 Annual Winter Showcase, which will be on display beginning Tuesday.
This exhibit will be on display in-person and online on the SAAC website — starkvillearts.net/creativeeconomy — from Nov. 2 through Jan. 10, 2022, in the lobby of the Greater Starkville Development Partnership in downtown Starkville.
A total of 23 works, such as ceramics, photography, Prismacolor, acrylic and more will be on display. Pieces come from all over the world, right here in Starkville, all over Mississippi, Atlanta, Georgia, St. Louis, Missouri, and Borneo.
The exhibit will kick-off with a reception held from 5:30-7 p.m. Nov. 9, in the Greater Starkville Development Partnership lobby in downtown Starkville. AiPP Committee members will cater this event. Wine provided by SAAC and Scotty’s Wine and Spirits.
